Pune: Facebook Post Exposes Detention Of About 150 Pardhi Community Members In Alandi Police Station

Alandi, 11th June 2023: The departure of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s palanquin from Alandi to Pandharpur has attracted a massive influx of devotees, but amidst the fervor, a shocking incident has come to light.
Advocate Asim Sarode took to Facebook to allege that around 127 to 150 members of the Pardhi community have been detained at the Alandi police station since morning.
Raising several questions, Sarode questioned the legality behind the detention of women, children, and men from the Pardhi community at the Alandi Police Station. The cramped conditions in which these individuals are being held pose a significant risk to their lives, as they are reportedly being denied food and water.
Sarode sought clarification on whether Inspector Sunil Godse has been granted the authority to take the law into his own hands. The basis on which Inspector Godse detained such a large number of Pardhi community members remains uncertain, as Sarode questioned the absence of any registered case against them. He emphasized the violation of human rights and questioned who had given Inspector Godse the power to infringe upon them.
Expressing concern, Sarode demanded the immediate release of the detained members of the Pardhi community, emphasizing that their detention appears to be solely based on their community background in relation to the ongoing Wari.
