6th Pune Dialogue On National Security 2021 To Begin On October 28 On Theme  ‘National Security Preparedness in the Age of Disasters and Pandemics’

Pune, 25th October: The 6THPune Dialogue on National Security 2021 (PDNS 2021) convened by Pune International Centre (PIC) will be held Online over two days, Thursday, October 28 and Friday, October 29.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘National Security Preparedness in the Age of Disasters and Pandemics’. PDNS 2021 will discuss the impact of the disasters and pandemics on India’s national security and suggest strategies to deal with it.

Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser, Government of India, will deliver the inaugural address while the Keynote Address will be delivered by Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Chief Scientist, World Health Organisation, Geneva. The inaugural session will be held from 10.20 am to 11.30 am on Thursday, October 28.

Lt.Gen. Vinayak Patankar, Trustee, PIC and a former General Officer Commanding in Kashmir Valley is the Convener of PDNS 2021.

Other eminent participants and speakers at PDNS 2021 include Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Vice-Chairman, NITI Aayog; Gen. NC Vij, former COAS and Vice-Chairman, National Disaster Management Authority; Shri PradyotHaldar, President, PPF, Shri K. M. Singh, Vice-President, PPF, Dr. S. R. Rao, Vice-President, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University; Col. Inderjit Singh, Chief Cyber Security Officer, Vara Technology Pvt. Ltd; Dr. Sanjay Singh, CEO, Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd as well as Dr. Rakesh Mishra, Director, Tata Institute of Genetics and Society among the others.

The PDNS is held by PIC in association with Policy Perspectives Foundation (PPF), New Delhi, The Tribune Trust, Chandigarh and Centre for Advanced Strategic Studies (CASS), Pune. Itideates, deliberates upon and brings into focus the imperatives for our national security. Apart from issues directly concerning the defence of our country, the forum discusses a wide range of other issues such as geo-strategic developments, technology, energy, health, disasters and pandemics as well as water and food.

Themes for previous PDNS conferences have included National Security Policy Framework, India and the Emerging World, India’s Nuclear Deterrence and Doctrine and The Indo-Pacific: Geo-Strategic Perspectives. The 6th PDNS scheduled on 28th and 29th October, 2021, is focused on the theme: National Security Preparedness in the Age of Disasters and Pandemics.
