8.4°C: Pune Colder Than Hill-Station Mahabaleshwar as Chill Sets In
Pune, 10th December 2025: Winter tightened its hold on the city as Pune recorded single-digit temperatures for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, December 10. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a minimum temperature of 8.4°C, marking a sharp fall from last week’s levels.
Pashan emerged as the coldest location in the district at 8.1°C. Four other stations also reported single-digit lows — Daund (8.5°C), Baramati (8.6°C), Talegaon (9.0°C), and Malin (9.2°C) — signalling cold wave-like conditions across the region.
Minimum temperatures have been sliding steadily over the past three to four days. From around 14°C earlier, Pune’s minimum has now dropped to 8.4°C, which is about three degrees below normal for this time of year.
In a rare trend, Pune remained colder than popular hill station Mahabaleshwar, which recorded a minimum of 12°C on December 9, two degrees below normal. The lowest temperature in the wider region was reported from Ahilyanagar at 7.4°C.
Amid the cold spell, the city’s air quality continued to improve. Pune’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 148 at 9 am on Wednesday, placing it in the moderate category.
With temperatures likely to remain low, residents are beginning to feel a more pronounced winter chill as December advances.
