Illegal Discharge of Chemical Water in Pune: Case Registered Against Company Owner

Chikhali, 11th May 2024: A case of illegal discharge of chemical water has surfaced in Pune. A case has been registered against the owner of the company that discharged chemical water into the river. This incident occurred on Wednesday, 8th May, in Kudalwadi Chikhali around 5 PM when chemical water was discharged into the Indrayani River.

Amol Ganpat Gorakhe, aged 48 and a resident of Akurdi, has filed a complaint at Chikhali Police Station. Chikhali Police have registered a case against Abdulmalik Abduljabbar Khan, aged 34 and a resident of Jadhavwadi, Chikhali.

According to police reports, on 8th May at 5 PM, a company in Kudalwadi Chikhali deliberately released water mixed with chemicals into the Indrayani River. The complainant has accused the owner of this company, stating that despite being aware of the potential water pollution and harm to biodiversity in the river, the action was taken.

In response, the Chikhali police have registered a case against the accused under the relevant sections of the Environmental (Protection) Act of 1986 and the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act of 1949. Police Constable Pingale from Chikhali Police Station is further investigating this matter.
