Two Women Die by Suicide in Pune Due to Abuse by Husbands
Pune, 11th November 2024: Two women in Pune have died by suicide in separate incidents, reportedly due to abuse by their husbands. Cases have been registered at the Kondhwa and Airport Police Stations in both incidents. In one case, the husband tortured his wife while demanding money, and in the other, the husband abused her over suspicions regarding her character.
In the first incident, 26-year-old Nayana Prakash Maghade, a resident of Sant Nagar, Lohgaon, died by suicide after hanging herself. A case has been registered against her husband, Prakash, following a complaint filed by Nayana’s brother, Jay Kharat (28), a resident of Ahilyanagar, at the Airport Police Station. Nayana and Prakash had been married for four years. According to the complaint, Prakash would demand money from Nayana, insisting that she bring it from her parents. Assistant Police Inspector Santosh Shinde from Airport Police Station is investigating the case.
In the second incident, 36-year-old Ashwini Rahul Mane, a resident of Kondhwa, died by suicide after hanging herself. A case has been registered against her husband, Rahul, and a female relative of his. Ashwini’s mother filed a complaint with the Kondhwa Police Station, stating that Rahul frequently suspected Ashwini’s character and subjected her to physical abuse. Overwhelmed by the constant abuse, Ashwini took her own life. Assistant Police Inspector Rakesh Jadhav from Kondhwa Police Station is investigating this case.
