Manjari Khurd, 22nd November 2024: An inspiring story emerged during the Maharashtra Assembly Elections as 89-year-old Parubai Kisan Undre exercised her right to vote despite being erroneously listed as “dead” in the official voter records.

The incident occurred on 20th November at polling station number 433, located at the Zilla Parishad School in Manjari Khurd. Parubai, accompanied by her grandson Abhijit Undre, arrived at the polling booth around 1:30 pm to cast her vote.

When Parubai presented her identity proof and voting slip, polling officials initially refused her, claiming that she had been recorded as deceased in the voter list. Undeterred, the determined grandmother insisted she was very much alive and demanded her right to vote.

After a brief discussion, the officials resolved the issue and allowed Parubai to cast her vote. Her persistence was met with applause, as she proudly fulfilled her civic duty.
