The space-ship like Rath moves out of the Mission for 5km Yatra in Pune City.
Pune, 24th November 2024: The Sadhu Vaswani Mission held its 58th Annual Rath Yatra in Pune on Saturday to honor the 145th birth anniversary of saint Sadhu Vaswani. This longstanding tradition, which began in 1966, brought together participants from around the world to promote the principles of ahimsa (non-violence) and animal rights.
The yatra commenced at 5 PM from the Sadhu Vaswani Mission and traveled through the vibrant streets of Pune Camp, concluding at the Mission by 8 PM. The event’s centerpiece was the rath, a custom-made, spaceship-like chariot adorned with a lifelike statue of Sadhu Vaswani and a standee of Dada J.P. Vaswani. Covering a 5-kilometer route, the procession attracted a large number of devotees who chanted, sang bhajans, and carried messages of compassion and harmony.
Didi Krishna Kumari, Head of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, led the yatra, distributing prasad to participants and onlookers. The procession also featured colorful floats, devotional music, and two key halts—Pudumjee Compound and Kohinoor Hotel—where Dada J.P. Vaswani’s recorded talks were played to inspire the crowd.
At these stops, Didi Krishna spoke passionately about Sadhu Vaswani’s teachings, emphasizing the importance of love and compassion for all beings. She also encouraged people to observe Meatless Day on November 25, advocating a vegetarian lifestyle for better health and world peace.
One participant, Bina from Mauritius, described the experience as “a soulful journey that spiritually uplifted me. It’s an out-of-the-world experience.”
The Rath Yatra is an annual event in Pune that celebrates Sadhu Vaswani’s birthday while spreading his timeless message of universal love and compassion. The procession typically lasts about three hours and spans a 5-kilometer route, passing through notable landmarks such as Council Hall, Poona Club, Babajan Chowk, and Aurora Towers, before returning to Sadhu Vaswani Mission.
Sadhu Vaswani was a revered saint who championed animal rights and non-violence, advocating these as essential steps toward achieving global peace. His legacy continues through the Mission’s ongoing efforts to spread his teachings.
