PMRDA Intensifies Action Against Illegal Constructions in Pune, Two Booked
Pune, 30th November 2024: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has resumed action against illegal construction following the conclusion of the Assembly Elections’ code of conduct. Two individuals from Gahunje, in the Maval taluka, have been charged with continuing construction despite being issued notices to halt unauthorised work.
Indaram Choudhary and Deepak Kumar Sahani, both residents of Gahunje, were booked for constructing four-story buildings without the necessary permissions. The PMRDA had previously issued notices to both individuals to remove the unauthorised constructions, but they proceeded with the work regardless.
Ganesh Jadhav, a Junior Engineer with PMRDA, filed complaints at the Talegaon Dabhade Police Station, leading to the registration of cases against both men. According to police reports, Choudhary ignored the notice and continued building his structure, while Sahani also disregarded the PMRDA’s order and proceeded with his own unauthorised construction.
The Talegaon Dabhade police are currently investigating the matter. During the Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections, several illegal constructions were reported within the PMRDA limits, with enforcement actions temporarily delayed due to the code of conduct. Now that the elections are over, the authorities have ramped up their efforts to tackle these violations, issuing notices to remove unauthorised buildings and filing cases against those who continue construction despite warnings.
