Kothrud, 9th December 2024: Christian missionaries accused of attempting to convert financially disadvantaged Hindus were taken into police custody in Pune. The incident occurred in the Dahanukar Colony area of Kothrud.

Under the leadership of ‘Pastor’ Gopal Randive and ‘Sister’ Aasha Randive, the missionary group reportedly carried out conversions through an organization named Bandhanmukt Seva Karya (“Obligation-Free Service Work”). They allegedly targeted individuals facing health and financial difficulties, coercing them into conversion through manipulation.

After the conversion, the Randive couple reportedly provided the converts with oil, claiming it could cure all diseases. Following a complaint, a case was registered against the couple for deliberately hurting religious sentiments and under other relevant sections of the law.

Local citizens submitted video and photo evidence of the activities to the police. It was revealed that the Randive couple had been active in multiple areas, including Uttam Nagar, Warje, Rahul Nagar, and Tejas Society. Various Hindu organisations have demanded strict action against the accused.

A case has been registered with the Alankar Police Station, which is currently investigating the matter further.
