Rs 40 Lakh Cheating Case Registered in Pune Over Medical College Admission Promise

Hadapsar, 27th January 2025: A businessman from Magarpatta City in Hadapsar was allegedly cheated of ₹40 lakh by six individuals who promised his daughter admission into a medical course.

The Hadapsar police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Sunil Kumar (45), Saurabh Gupta (40), Vikas Gupta (28), Randhir Singh (30), Priyanka Mishra, and one other individual.

According to the complaint filed by the businessman, the accused, who reside in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were introduced to him through an acquaintance in August 2024. They promised to secure a seat for his daughter in a private medical college. Over time, the businessman paid ₹60 lakh to the accused in both cash and online transactions.

However, despite the payment, no admission was facilitated. When questioned, the accused reportedly gave evasive responses. Under pressure, they returned ₹20 lakh but failed to refund the remaining ₹40 lakh.

After realizing the deception, the businessman lodged a complaint with the Hadapsar police. Assistant Inspector Deepak Barge is leading the investigation under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Mogle.
