Pune: Bhosari–Dighi Road Shut for Sewer Line Replacement; PCMC Urges Use of Alternate Routes
Pimpri Chinchwad, 1st August 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has begun work to replace a major sewer line on the Bhosari–Dighi Road after a choked drainage pipeline led to sewage entering several houses in Dighi’s Shivnagar area.
The work is being carried out by the civic body’s E Ward Office near Indradhanush Society, opposite Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhavan, where excavation of the road will be undertaken to replace the damaged trunk sewer line.
As a result, traffic on this stretch of the Bhosari–Dighi Road will remain closed for an estimated four to five days. The civic body has appealed to residents of wards 4, 5, 6 and 7, as well as those in the Bhosari and Dighi areas, to use alternate routes during the period and cooperate with the administration.
According to PCMC, the sewer replacement is expected to provide a permanent solution to the recurring sewage overflow and waterlogging problem affecting homes in the Shivnagar area of Dighi.
The municipal corporation said adequate manpower, machinery and technical teams have been deployed to complete the work at the earliest. E Ward Officer Parshuram Waghmode urged citizens to plan their travel in advance, use alternative routes and follow safety instructions around the work site until the project is completed.
