Yerawada, 27th March 2025: A Pune court on Wednesday granted bail to Gaurav Ahuja, who was arrested for allegedly urinating in public and exposing himself to morning walkers, including a woman, near the Shastrinagar junction on March 8. Ahuja was released from Yerawada Central Prison following the court’s order.

Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) N.S. Bari approved Ahuja’s bail on the condition that he furnish a personal bond of ₹50,000 along with one or two sureties of the same amount. Additionally, the court issued a warning, instructing him not to influence prosecution witnesses in any manner. As part of his bail conditions, Ahuja has been directed to report to the Yerawada police station every Monday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Ahuja’s defence team, represented by advocates Ramesh Parmar and Surendra Apune, contended that the charges against him did not warrant continued detention. They argued that Section 65 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, which pertains to the penalty for importing intoxicants, was not relevant in this case. “Most of the other charges are bailable, and there is no legal ground to keep him in custody any longer,” Parmar stated in court.

The case has drawn significant public attention, with many calling for stricter enforcement of laws against public indecency.
