Pune, 27th March 2025: The special public prosecutor, Shishir Hiray, informed a special court on Wednesday that there is substantial evidence against a labour contractor and a jeweller for their alleged involvement in tampering with blood alcohol reports related to the Porsche crash case. The two are accused of influencing suspended Sassoon Hospital staff to manipulate test results for the minors who were with the 17-year-old driver at the time of the fatal accident on May 19, 2024.

Opposing their bail applications, Hiray argued that the accused not only collaborated with hospital staff to forge documents but also altered names in the test reports to mislead the investigation. “The manipulation was intended to shield the minors from legal consequences,” he told the court.

The fraud was exposed after authorities received a tip-off regarding discrepancies in the blood samples and test reports, including that of the underage driver. This prompted investigators to collect fresh blood samples from the minors at Aundh Hospital, which were then sent to the forensic science laboratory for verification.

Hiray asserted that the prosecution has gathered sufficient proof to demonstrate that the accused conspired with the eight other individuals arrested earlier to fabricate documents and falsify records, aiming to show that the minors were not intoxicated at the time of the crash. “Given the gravity of the offence, which carries a potential life sentence, and the risk of evidence tampering if released, their bail should be denied,” he argued, citing precedents from the Supreme Court and High Court.

The court will continue hearing the bail pleas on April 4.

Police Seek Dismissal of Two Officers for Mishandling Case

Meanwhile, the Pune city police have recommended the dismissal of an inspector and an assistant inspector for their failure to properly handle the initial investigation into the Porsche crash. The proposal has been sent to the state Director General of Police’s (DGP) office in Mumbai.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated, “Both officers, who were posted at Yerawada police station, neglected their duties, leading to serious lapses in the investigation.” The two were previously suspended, and a departmental inquiry was launched against them.

“Following the completion of the inquiry, we have formally recommended their removal from service,” Kumar added.

Background of the Case

The Porsche crash, which occurred in the early hours of May 19, 2024, resulted in the tragic deaths of two young software engineers Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhiya, both natives of Madhya Pradesh. The accident took place when the high-end car, driven by the 17-year-old son of a prominent city builder, rammed into their motorcycle near Kalyani Nagar. The teenager was reportedly returning home to Wadgaon Sheri with two other minors and his driver after partying at multiple
pubs in Mundhwa and Koregaon Park annexe.
