Pune, 9 April 2025: In the wake of public outrage following the tragic death of 27-year-old Tanisha Bhise, MLC Amit Gorkhe has appealed to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital to take a humane step forward by accepting guardianship of Bhise’s twin daughters. Tanisha, who was seven months pregnant, died allegedly due to medical negligence at the hospital—an incident that has sparked statewide condemnation.

There is a storm of public criticism intensified after two of the three committees appointed by the Maharashtra government found misconduct.

In a heartfelt tweet, Gorkhe emphasized the urgent need to provide a secure and dignified future for orphaned children. “It is the need of the hour to provide a safe and civilized life to the two twin girls of the Bhise family. My request is that Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital should accept the guardianship of these girls. This step will offer them support and send a positive message that humanity is still alive,” he posted.

Speaking further, Gorkhe added, “While all of us are capable of helping, I personally urge the hospital to assume responsibility for these girls until they turn 18. It will show that institutions still have a sense of social accountability.”

The call for guardianship comes as part of a broader demand for justice and accountability. Gorkhe met Chief Minister Fadnavis following the release of the government report and reiterated his demand for immediate action against those found guilty. “It is not just about one case; it’s about restoring public faith in the healthcare system,” he said.
