Pune Apartment Fire: Blaze Erupts in Chandan Nagar Flat, Major Losses Reported

Chandan Nagar, 24th April 2025: A fire broke out in a flat on the second floor of a three-storey building near the Chandan Nagar vegetable market in Pune at 2:55 PM on April 24, 2025. Upon receiving the alert, fire engines from Yerawada, BT Kawade Road, and Naidu fire stations, along with a water tanker, were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters arrived promptly and ensured that no residents were trapped inside the building before launching efforts to douse the flames. Their swift action successfully contained and extinguished the fire, preventing further escalation and ensuring the safety of all occupants. Despite this, the blaze caused significant damage, destroying household items, electrical wiring, and cash stored in the apartment. The elderly woman present in the flat at the time was safely evacuated by neighbours, resulting in no injuries.

The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined. The operation involved Fire Officers Vijay Bhilare and a dedicated team of firefighters and drivers, whose coordinated response averted a potential tragedy.
