Symbiosis School aces the Innovation Challenge at Cyber Genius

Pune, February 5, 2018: Pune’s well-known school, Dr.KalmadiShamarao High School (KHS) recently organised prize distribution ceremony for its unique and one of its kindflagship inter-school IT competition ‘CyberGenius’ which was initiated by its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department 20 years back. It was Symbiosis School who won the ICT Innovation Challenge and was awarded during a prize distribution ceremony held at KHS, Ganeshnagar.

Eminent personalities like Vivek Sawant, MD and CEO of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd, Amol Patkar, Founder and Director, Fundamentor, Uday Panchpor, Senior General Manager MKCL, Vipul Shah, Head of ACM India’s CS Pathshala Initiative, Pallavi Naik, Principal KHS Ganeshnagar, Jyoti Dhore, Head of ICT department and the management members of the Kannada Sangh were present at the ceremony.

Naik, gave a brief account of the 20 years of Cyber Genius. She said, “The idea behind the genesis of Cyber Genius was to create a platform for students to display their skills. KHS has been the pioneer in setting the standards for other such school competitions around Pune. The participation has increased substantially from 25 participants in 1998 to over 670 participants from 30 schools in and around Pune.”

The Cyber Genius competition is spread over a period of 2 months December and January every year which is held in 4 groups.The mini group for the students of std. III & IV, the sub- junior group for std. V & VI, the junior group for std. VII & VIII and the senior group for std. IX & X.

V.P. Magarpatta City Public School received the Rolling trophies for the Senior Category. They also received an iBall slide tablet PC as a prize along with the trophy. For the Junior Category, Dr.KalmadiShamarao High School, Ganeshnagar won the award.For the Sub Junior Rolling, DSK School received a trophy and Chroma Laser presenter as a prize.The Mini group rolling trophy was bagged by Dr.KalmadiShamarao High School Primary section.

For ICT innovation challenge, the students were asked to make presentations on topics like Use of Robot in our Defence System, Farming with Technology, Intelligent Transport system, e-Education, Smart City.

The responses were extremely well received by the judging panel. There were a whopping 106 winners across the various categories and events, along with rolling trophies for the best performing schools. The winners got certificates of participation and trophies. There was also a special category for children from the PMC schools as well as Bal Kalyan Sanstha for the differently abled children.

Sawant, spoke about how technology would be instrumental in helping to save the planet through various ventures. Amol Patkar, spoke about the need for robust value systems in the 21st century coupled with the need for fresh and out-of-the-box thinking.
