New Delhi, 18th June 2025: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday announced the rollout of a FASTag-based annual toll pass for private vehicles, aimed at making highway travel smoother and more affordable. Priced at ₹3,000, the pass will be available from August 15, 2025.

Applicable to private, non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans, the pass will be valid for either 200 trips or one year from the date of activation, whichever comes first.

The initiative seeks to ease congestion at toll plazas—especially those within a 60-kilometre radius—by reducing wait times and preventing disputes over toll charges. It’s also expected to boost FASTag adoption among regular highway commuters.

The annual pass can be purchased and renewed via the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app, as well as through the official portals of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

Officials estimate that the scheme will benefit millions of frequent travellers and marks another step forward in India’s effort to digitize road infrastructure and promote seamless toll collection.
