Pimpri-Chinchwad, 18th June 2025: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced the cancellation of the proposed Town Planning (TP) Scheme at Charholi in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The decision was made public during a city event, bringing relief to local farmers, landowners, and residents who had opposed the scheme. Fadnavis assured citizens that urban development cannot proceed effectively without their trust and participation, urging people not to be confused by political controversies surrounding the issue.

The announcement followed sustained opposition from landowners, farmers, and local citizens, who were supported by BJP MLA Mahesh Landge. Landge had consistently advocated for the rights of locals, raising their concerns with the municipal administration and organizing protests. Previously, PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh had only suspended the TP Scheme process, but locals demanded its complete cancellation.

The event, which also marked the inauguration and foundation-laying of various development projects, was attended by several dignitaries, including scholars, MPs, MLAs, former mayors, and senior officials from the municipal corporation and police department. The Chief Minister’s decision was welcomed as a victory for the unity of the local community, with MLA Landge expressing gratitude to Fadnavis for prioritizing the rights of Pimpri-Chinchwad residents.

The controversy had intensified after the administration halted the scheme rather than cancelling it outright, leading to confusion and political maneuvering. With this decisive announcement, the government aims to restore confidence among the local population and ensure that future development projects are carried out transparently and with public involvement.
