Fake Astrologer Arrested for Molestation Attempt in Pune’s Dhankawadi Area

Dhankawadi, 20th July 2025: A shocking incident has emerged from Pune’s Dhankawadi area where a man posing as an astrologer was arrested for allegedly attempting to molest a young woman under the pretext of performing a ritual. The accused, identified as Akhilesh Laxman Rajguru, was taken into custody by Sahakarnagar police following a complaint filed by the 25-year-old woman.

According to police officials, the complainant had approached Rajguru on the recommendation of a friend who claimed that he could predict the future by reading horoscopes. The woman visited the accused’s office on July 12, carrying her brother’s horoscope. After examining it, the accused told her he would give a special plant for her brother and asked her to return later after informing him.

The woman revisited the office on July 18 and was instructed to return the following day to collect the plant. On July 19, when she arrived as directed, the accused allegedly asked her to place the plant on her head and chant a mantra as part of the ritual. Suspicious of the unusual request, the woman tried to leave. However, Rajguru allegedly tried to forcibly hug her and made inappropriate advances.

Frightened, the woman managed to escape and immediately informed her brother about the incident. She later approached the Sahakarnagar police station and filed a complaint.

Following the report, police swiftly conducted a raid on the accused’s office and arrested him.
