Kondhwa, 29th July 2025: In a shocking development related to a land dispute in Pune’s Kondhwa area, builder Surendra Agarwal has been booked for allegedly authorizing a group of individuals with criminal backgrounds to seize control of the contested property. The action follows a violent clash between two groups near Brahma County Society in the Kausar Bagh locality earlier this month.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered against Agarwal after it came to light that he had issued a written authorization letter to three individuals known for their criminal tendencies. One of them has a prior murder charge, police said.

On July 12, around 60 to 70 people gathered behind Brahma County Society and were seen abusing and arguing with each other in an apparent attempt to assert dominance over the land. While Kondhwa Police managed to temporarily disperse the crowd in the morning, both groups returned later that evening and engaged in a violent brawl with sticks, injuring several individuals.

Following the incident, a case was registered at Kondhwa Police Station. During the investigation, police discovered that the conflict was fueled by an internal arrangement involving Agarwal, who had agreed to pay Rs 40 lakh to the group in question—reportedly due to his old age and medical issues. A cheque of Rs 6.5 lakh had already been issued as partial payment.
