Pimpri, 31st July 2025: In a proactive move to assess the impact of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme and school infrastructure, Additional Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Pradip Jambhale Patil, paid a surprise visit to the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Primary School in Charholi Budruk on Wednesday morning.

During the visit, he interacted directly with students, sat alongside them in their classrooms, and personally examined the quality and completeness of the educational kits distributed through DBT this year.

As part of his inspection, the Additional Commissioner asked students detailed questions about the materials received — whether they got their uniforms, water bottles, shoes, colouring kits, and if they liked the new additions this year. He also discussed subjects they enjoyed and enquired about their awareness of scholarship programs and initiatives like Bharat Darshan, which rewards meritorious students.

The school reported that over 90% of the students had received their educational kits. Upon discovering that a few students were yet to receive theirs, Jambhale Patil immediately ordered distribution of the remaining kits and personally verified their contents. Noticing some students had not received shoes and uniforms, he directed the concerned officials to ensure delivery within two days.

The Additional Commissioner further reviewed the condition of the school’s toilets, electrical wiring, and CCTV system. He made on-the-spot phone calls to the sanitation, electrical, and zonal departments, issuing instructions for immediate improvements. Teachers also raised requests to expand the number of classrooms and widen the main school entrance — both of which were noted for follow-up action.

As part of his visit, Jambhale Patil also tasted the school mid-day meal and emphasized the importance of consistent quality monitoring. He instructed school staff to regularly inspect the meal standards and ensure no compromise in hygiene or nutrition.

“The purpose of today’s visit was to directly assess the effectiveness of our DBT-based kit distribution and understand student feedback on the materials received. It was also an opportunity to gauge how aware students are of schemes like Bharat Darshan. Such surprise inspections will continue across other schools to ensure every student receives the full benefit of PCMC’s educational initiatives.”- Pradip Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner, PCMC
