Keshavnagar, 10th August 2025: “How can PMC demand thousands of rupees in taxes when they can’t even give us a proper road or clean drinking water?” — this is the united cry of hundreds of frustrated residents from Purva Silversands in Mundhwa’s Keshavnagar.

Residents allege they are being unfairly burdened with high property taxes despite lacking even the most basic civic amenities.

Their grievances include:

  • No proper approach road to the society.
  • Absence of street lights, making nights unsafe.
  • Irregular garbage collection, creating health hazards.
  • Foul odour from the river and nearby garbage depot.
  • No PMC drinking water supply.
  • Rising incidents of stray dog attacks.
  • Severe traffic congestion and poor traffic management.
  • Long delays in bridge construction.

Locals point out that even villages in Maharashtra enjoy better civic facilities. “In most cities, amenities come first, taxes later — here, it’s the opposite,” said Harshal Prakash Pandit, a resident.

The protesters are demanding that property taxes be reduced by at least 90% given the current state of services, or scrapped entirely until basic facilities are provided.

A user on X (@Ekbyte) tweeted, “When can we expect a road here? Keshavnagar Near Little Einstein School? Every monsoon, it’s a chocolate road here!

“If our demands are ignored, we will escalate the matter to higher authorities and the public, exposing PMC’s failure to deliver on its basic duties,” residents warned.
