Pune: After Years of Complaints, Kalyani Nagar’s Problematic Bus Stop Finally Goes
Kalyani Nagar, 15th August 2025: Residents of Kalyani Nagar have expressed gratitude to local MLA Bapu Pathare and his team for their timely intervention in improving pedestrian safety and cleanliness in the neighbourhood.
The long-defunct bus stop outside the Mercedes showroom had been out of service for over five years. With no buses halting there, it had turned into an unofficial garbage dumping spot and a shelter for a few beggars, creating both hygiene and safety concerns. Its placement blocked a substantial section of the footpath, forcing pedestrians — including senior citizens, children, and differently abled individuals — to step onto the busy main road.
Acting on repeated complaints from locals, MLA Pathare ensured the structure was dismantled, the footpath repaired, and bollards installed to keep the pathway clear for pedestrians. He has also taken up the larger issue of traffic congestion in Kalyani Nagar with authorities, calling for stricter enforcement against illegal parking, better traffic regulation, and improved road design.

“From the very beginning, this bus stop was installed at the wrong location. It served no purpose and only blocked pedestrian movement. The spot had become so stinky and dirty that it was impossible to walk past it. We thank Pathare ji for getting this done for the residents,” said Munir Vastani, a Kalyani Nagar resident.
Another resident, Haresh Bharwani, shared, “The bus stop had been a nuisance for years and was being misused by anti-social elements. It forced pedestrians to walk on the busy road, putting them in danger. We are sincerely thankful to our MLA, Shri Bapu Saheb Pathare Ji, and his son, Shri Surendra Pathare Ji, who consistently followed up with the authorities until it was removed. This has brought great relief to the community.”
Locals say these steps have made a visible difference to safety, hygiene, and accessibility in the area. Many hope that this momentum will continue, leading to broader improvements in traffic management across Kalyani Nagar.
