Pune, 18th August 2025: The four major dams supplying water to Pune city are nearing full capacity following heavy rainfall in their catchment areas, the irrigation department said on Monday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted heavy rainfall for Tuesday, raising concerns of further inflows.

According to the latest data from the Khadakwasala complex as of 5 pm on 18th August 2025:
Khadakwasala Dam recorded 16 mm of rainfall, bringing the total storage to 1.09 TMC, or 54.94% of its capacity. The dam saw an inflow increase of 36 mcft, with 12.84 TMC of water released over the spillway.

Panshet Dam received 59 mm of rainfall, with total storage at 10.10 TMC, reaching 94.85% of its capacity. Inflow increased by 230 mcft.

Warasgaon Dam recorded 54 mm rainfall, holding 12.04 TMC of water, or 93.94% of capacity, with an inflow of 201 mcft.

Temghar Dam saw 42 mm of rainfall, bringing storage to 3.57 TMC, or 96.39% of its capacity, with inflows of 17 mcft.

Overall, the combined inflow into the four dams reached 484 mcft, taking total storage to 26.80 TMC, which is 91.94% of total capacity. Last year, on the same date, the dams held 28.38 TMC or 97.38% of capacity.

The irrigation department is monitoring the situation closely and managing water releases to prevent flooding downstream. Residents have been advised to stay alert, especially in low-lying areas, as continued rains may lead to increased spillway discharge.
