Pune: PMC Recommends Job for Daughter of Pahalgam Terror Attack Victim
Pune, 26th August 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has recommended employment for Asawari Jagdale, daughter of Santosh Jagdale, who lost his life in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam earlier this year. The proposal has been forwarded to the state government for approval.
According to civic officials, the administration has suggested that Asawari be accommodated in either a Grade II or Grade III position, such as administrative officer, deputy superintendent, computer operator, or clerk. “We have written to the Urban Development Department seeking permission to appoint her to a suitable post,” a senior PMC officer said.
Asawari, who holds an MBA in Human Resources and a diploma in Labour Law, had initially sought a Class I post of assistant commissioner. “Considering her qualifications and the tragic circumstances, she has requested a position that matches her educational background,” the official added.
Her request gained support after Neelam Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council, submitted a recommendation letter to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Acting on this appeal, Shinde’s office directed the PMC Commissioner to prepare and forward a formal proposal.
Speaking about the development, a civic official said, “The Jagdale family has suffered an irreparable loss. Offering government employment to Asawari is a small step towards ensuring financial stability for her future. The final decision now rests with the state government.”
The proposal is under consideration, and approval from the state is awaited.
