Pimpri, 28th August 2025: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have received a significant boost in their crime-fighting capabilities with the introduction of a state-of-the-art forensic van. The vehicle was handed over by the Maharashtra Home Department and unveiled by Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey on Wednesday.

Officials said the timing is crucial due to India’s newly implemented legal codes — Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam — which require robust scientific evidence for serious crimes carrying sentences of seven years or more.

“This forensic van is equipped with advanced tools for DNA profiling, cyber forensics, NDPS drug testing, footprint and ballistic analysis, fire and explosives investigations, and sexual assault evidence collection,” Commissioner Choubey said. “Our team of six forensic experts will be deployed directly to crime scenes to ensure evidence is collected accurately and promptly.”

Police officials noted that the new mobile lab will not only accelerate investigations but also help reduce legal loopholes that allow criminals to evade justice. “With this van, we aim to strengthen our case-building and ensure that serious offenders face the full weight of the law,” a senior officer said.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police believe that this high-tech addition could mark a turning point in the city’s fight against crime, making it more difficult for lawbreakers to escape accountability.
