Pune: Station Superintendent Rajkumar Garware Retires After 37 Years of Railway Service

Pune, 1st September 2025: Rajkumar Garware, Station Superintendent of Pune Division, Central Railway, retired on August 31, 2025, concluding a distinguished 37-year career with Indian Railways that began in 1988.

Garware joined the Railway on June 21, 1988, as a Technician in Diesel loco shed Ghorpadi, Pune, and rose through the ranks to become Station Superintendent. His career progression included key positions such as Assistant Station Master, Transportation Inspector, and Station Manager (Operations) at Pune Railway Station.

During his tenure as Station Manager (Operations) at Pune Railway Station, Garware oversaw daily operations including passenger services, train scheduling, crowd control, and coordination with multiple departments. He managed crisis situations including train delays, VIP movements, and special events through contingency planning and real-time decision-making.

As Transportation Inspector for Safety and Station Working Rules from 2016 to 2024, Garware conducted safety inspections and audits that resulted in reduced traffic-related incidents and delays. He coordinated with station masters, control offices, and engineering departments to handle disruptions and implement recovery plans. His responsibilities included preparing safety circulars, counselling operating staff, and supervising Non-Interlocking work at over 50 railway stations.

“He was very sincere and hardworking employee. He was a task master and was asset to railway organisation. His absence will be felt in office after his superannuation,” said Dr. Ramdas Bhise, Senior Divisional Operations Manager.

In his recent role focusing on Manpower Planning for Pune Division during 2024-2025, Garware prepared and implemented manpower forecasts using retirement trends, vacancy data, and workload projections.

Garware’s contributions to railway operations earned him recognition through multiple awards, including the General Manager award in 2023, Principal Chief Operations Manager award in 2018, and Divisional Railway Manager awards in 2013, 2019, and 2021.

Throughout his career, Garware gained 16 years of specialized experience in train operation and crowd management, working in various capacities including Panel Operator, RRI Incharge, and Indoor & Outdoor Deputy Station Superintendent at Pune station.
