Pune’s Longest Double Flyover on Sinhagad Road to Be Inaugurated Today

Pune, 1st September 2025: The much-awaited double flyover on Sinhagad Road, touted as Pune’s longest flyover project, will be inaugurated today (September 1) at 3 pm by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal confirmed the inauguration, stating that the new bridge will play a crucial role in easing traffic congestion in one of the city’s busiest corridors. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol, State Minister for Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, and leaders across political parties are expected to attend the ceremony.

Length: 2.5 km (Longest in Pune)
Cost: ₹118 crore
Work Period: September 2021 – August 2025 (completed six months ahead of schedule)

Milestones of the Project
Phase 1 (Aug 15, 2024): 520m flyover at Rajaram bridge Chowk (₹15 crore).
Phase 2 (May 1, 2025): Vitthalwadi to Funtime stretch, 2.1 km (₹61 crore).
Phase 3 (Sept 1, 2025): Goyal Ganga Chowk to Inamdar Chowk, 1.54 km (₹42 crore).

Benefits for Commuters
According to officials, the double flyover will significantly reduce congestion on Sinhagad Road and surrounding areas, including Dhayari, Khadakwasla, Vadgaon Budruk, Nanded City, and roads connecting to the Mumbai–Bengaluru Highway.

Citizens can save 15–25 minutes of travel time daily.
Smooth passage for school buses, public transport, and commercial vehicles.
Major intersections can now be crossed without long halts.

Minister Madhuri Misal highlighted the project’s importance, saying,
“Pune is the fastest-growing city in Maharashtra, with a rapid rise in both population and vehicles. The Sinhagad Road double flyover is not just a convenience project—it is an ambitious, technologically advanced solution to tackle traffic bottlenecks in this part of the city.”

The project is expected to provide long-term relief to thousands of daily commuters and enhance connectivity between residential and commercial hubs in Pune’s western corridor.
