Fire Breaks Out in Guruwar Peth Society

Guruwar Peth, 3rd September 2025: A major fire broke out at Zeba Shelters Society in Guruwar Peth early Wednesday morning, sparking panic among residents. The blaze, which originated around 3:30 am on the ground floor, engulfed an electricity meter and a two-wheeler, producing thick smoke that spread through the building.

Firefighters from the Pune Fire Brigade rushed to the spot after receiving a call at the control room. Displaying quick action, they managed to safely evacuate 46 residents and extinguish the fire within 15 minutes using water hoses.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. Officials said a short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.

Panic Among Residents
The dense smoke caused widespread fear inside the society. Several residents were trapped inside their homes before firefighters safely escorted them out. “It was a close call, but timely action averted a tragedy,” said a fire department official.

On-Ground Response
The firefighting operation was led by Officer Prashant Gaikar, with personnel Atul Mohite, Azim Sheikh, Sudhir Navale, Tejas Patel, Sagar Shirke, and Yash Virkar carrying out the rescue and fire control efforts.

Meanwhile, Khadak police also visited the site to assess the situation.

Authorities have urged housing societies to ensure regular electrical safety checks to prevent such incidents.
