Pune: Wakad Tops List as Pimpri Chinchwad Police Act Against 40 Ganesh Mandals for Laser Light Use
Wakad, 8th September 2025: Pimpri Chinchwad Police have initiated action against 40 Ganesh mandals for violating prohibitory orders during the recently concluded Ganeshotsav by using laser beam lights. The action was taken under Section 223 (disobedience to orders promulgated by public servants) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police officials, maximum violations were recorded under Wakad police station (17 cases), followed by Pimpri (8), Nigdi (5), Sangvi (5), Dapodi (3), and Talegaon Dabhade (2).
In addition, the police deployed a large number of noise level meters across the Commissionerate limits to monitor sound levels during the festivities. Officials confirmed that the recorded data is now under preliminary inquiry by the respective Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs). “Further legal action will be taken based on the findings,” the police stated.
Authorities had earlier appealed to mandals to ensure strict adherence to noise and light restrictions during the festival to avoid inconvenience to citizens.
