Pune: Two Killed in Separate Road Accidents in Pune; Drivers Booked
Pune, 12th September 2025: Two separate road accidents in Pune on Thursday (11 September) claimed the lives of a toddler and a 21-year-old motorcyclist, prompting police to register FIRs against the drivers involved.
Toddler Run Over in Lohegaon
At around 12:30 p.m., two-year-old Vidarth Vipin Mavi was fatally hit by a car inside the Air Force Colony at Lohegaon. Police said the child, who was playing outside his residence, was run over by a woman resident of the colony.
According to police, Vidarth’s father, Vipin Rajsingh Mavi (34), an IAF officer, filed a complaint to the Airport Police Station. The boy was rushed to a private hospital but was declared dead on arrival. An FIR has been registered against the woman driver. Constable Dhende is investigating.
Youth Dies in Khadakmal Ali Hit-and-Run
Around 4 a.m. the same day, Baliram Sahebrao Chavan (21), of Pangri village in Jalna district, was killed in a hit-and-run near Rashtrabhooshan Chowk on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road.
Chavan, who was on a motorcycle, was struck by a speeding car and died on the spot. The driver fled after the crash. A complaint filed by the victim’s brother, Ram Sahebrao Chavan (23), led to a case being registered at the Khadak Police Station.
The twin tragedies have reignited concerns over road safety and traffic discipline in Pune, with citizens calling for tighter enforcement of speed limits and improved awareness in both residential areas and on arterial routes.
