Pune: After-School Model Launched in 141 Schools of Pimpri Chinchwad
Pimpri, 15th September 2025: An innovative after-school model was launched at Ankushrao Landge Auditorium in Bhosari, a joint initiative of the Education Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and The Apprentice Project (TAP).
The launch event was attended by former Mayor Usha alias Mai Dhore, Prasad Shetye, Executive Vice President of Capgemini India, Rajshree Titkare, representative of the District Education and Training Institute, and TAP co-founders Prashant Kumar, Anamika Mukherjee, Dinesh Salve, and Juhi Shah, along with principals and teachers from 141 schools under the municipal corporation.
Under the initiative, the after-school model will be implemented in 141 PCMC schools for the academic year 2025-26. The program aims to foster creativity, reflection, collaboration, and communication skills among students, emphasizing personality development rather than exam-focused learning. Students will receive training in art, coding, technology, financial literacy, and other essential skills to prepare them for future challenges.
Ahead of the program launch, teachers participated in a detailed training session at Ankushrao Landge Hall, which included guidance on the initiative’s objectives, methodology, curriculum, registration processes, and the responsibilities of principals and nodal officers.
“Along with book knowledge, skills like art, coding, technology, and financial literacy are essential for the overall development of students. The Apprentice Project initiative will enhance the personality and confidence of students,” said Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner, PCMC.
“‘The Apprentice Project’ initiative is a big step towards ensuring quality education in public schools. Teacher training and after-school experiences will promote the all-round development of students,” added Kiran Kumar More, Assistant Commissioner, Education Department, PCMC.
The after-school model is expected to transform learning in municipal schools, equipping students with both academic knowledge and practical life skills.
