Pune: Punya Nagari Banga Samaj to Celebrate 29th Year of Durga Puja with Grand Cultural Festivities

Vishrantwadi, 21st September 2025: Punya Nagari Banga Samaj (PNBS), Vishrantwadi, is set to mark its 29th Durga Puja with a grand celebration, beginning with a cultural event tomorrow on the occasion of Mahalaya. The festivities will kick off with a spectacular dance drama, Mahisasur Mardini, performed by 50 club members, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Bengal.
The main Durga Puja celebrations will take place from September 27 to October 2, 2025, at Tirupati Garden, Lane No. 2, Tingrenagar, Pune. This year, decorations will be designed by artists from West Bengal, aiming to recreate the grandeur of a traditional Rajbari (palace), promising a visual treat for visitors.
Cultural programmes will be held each evening throughout the six-day festival, featuring performances by renowned artists from Bollywood and Bengal. Highlights of the evening performances include:
- 28th September (MahaShasthi): “Ailo Uma Barite” by PNBS members.
- 29th September (MahaSaptami): Harmony Orchestra with 70+ musicians from Pune.
- 30th September (MahaAshtomi): Live performances by Kamalika Chakraborty, winner of SAREGAMA Zee Bangla 2014-15 and Zee Hindi Sa Re Ga Ma 2021-22, and Jaydeep, Star Plus Bangla Voice of India 2020-21, both from Kolkata.
- 1st October (MahaNabomi): Dance performances by Sanchari Dance Group from Kolkata and a solo performance by Suchismita Mandal.
- 2nd October (Dashami): Singing performances by Manjira Ganguly, Hindi playback singer and X-Factor Sony season winner, and Anamika Deb, folk singer and SAREGAMA Bangla season winner 2022-23.

PNBS Vice President, Sandeep Bhattacharjee, said, “This year, we are excited to bring together top artists from West Bengal and Bollywood. Our aim is to create a festival experience that celebrates both tradition and contemporary cultural performances, offering something special for every visitor.”
The festival not only celebrates the divine spirit of Goddess Durga but also showcases art, music, and dance, reflecting the vibrant cultural ethos of Bengal in the heart of Pune.
