Pune: Bandu Andekar Gang Allegedly Extorts Rs 5.4 Crore, Grabs Land in Nana Peth

Nana Peth, 1st October 2025: The infamous Bandu Andekar gang has reportedly grabbed land and extorted Rs 5.4 crore, police confirmed. A case has been registered at Samarth Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

Police said that following an appeal by Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, urging citizens to report if they had been threatened, extorted, or had land seized by Andekar and his associates, a complaint was filed with the Crime Branch.

According to police reports, Andekar and his accomplice, Manish alias Manoj Vardekar, conspired to illegally occupy the complainant’s land in Nana Peth. Without any ownership rights, they carried out unauthorized construction and extracted Rs 5.4 crore from tenants and the vacant land.

When the complainant requested vacating the land for construction, Andekar allegedly demanded Rs 30 lakh to facilitate work with the municipal corporation. He also reportedly threatened the complainant with violence to obstruct the construction process.

The case was registered against the Andekar gang under the supervision of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner Pankaj Deshmukh, and Deputy Commissioner Nikhil Pingle. The investigation is currently being led by Senior Inspector Umesh Gitte of the anti-extortion cell (I).
