Pune: Khadki Railway Station Records 4,566 Daily Footfall; Major Upgrades in Progress

Pune, 2nd October 2025: Khadki Railway Station (KK), under Pune Division of Central Railway, has reported a daily outward passenger count of 1,126, including 1,058 through the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) and 68 through the Passenger Reservation System (PRS). The station’s daily footfall has reached 4,566, highlighting its growing importance as a suburban and long-distance rail hub.

Currently, 51 trains halt daily at Khadki, which includes 26 down trains (5 Mail/Express and 21 EMU suburban services) and 25 up trains (4 Mail/Express and 21 EMU). In addition, festival special trains are operating from the station to handle increased seasonal demand.

Ongoing Development Works

Railway authorities confirmed multiple sanctioned works already in progress at Khadki:

Yard modification: Slewing of Yard Line No. 3 to improve operational efficiency.

Platform upgrades: Widening of passenger platforms, raising the height of Platform No. 3 for RBPC trains and EMU handling.

New Platform development: Construction of a new Platform No. 4, with capacity for 24 LHB coaches.

Signalling modification: Yard-wide signalling improvements for better train handling.

Extension of Foot Over Bridge (FOB): A new 6-metre wide FOB connecting to the new platform.

Stabling line isolation: To improve rake handling and maintenance safety.

Proposed Developments

Several large-scale projects are planned to modernize Khadki station and improve passenger facilities:

New Station Building Facilities

Booking office with counters, CBS room, and telecom facilities.

Queuing areas, store rooms, and supervisor offices.

Upper class, second-class, and ladies’ waiting rooms.

Retiring rooms, dormitories, and VIP room.

TTE/LP/Guard rest rooms and Dy. Station Superintendent office.

Food plazas, cafeteria, parcel office with cloak room.

COP (Covered Open Platform), multiple toilet blocks, and water taps.

Vertical and Circulation Infrastructure

New 6-metre wide FOBs connecting PF 1, PF 2/3, and PF 4.

Skywalk linking the new building.

Multi-storey parking building at PF 4 (300 m x 13 m).

Platform and Passenger Amenities

New COP, additional water taps, seating benches.

Divyangjan-friendly toilets and accessible features.

Electrical & Passenger Information Systems

8 lifts (PF1–2, PF 2/3–2, PF4–2, Parking–2).

6 escalators (PF1–2, PF2/3–2, PF4–2).

Lighting, fans, and 6 water coolers at new platforms and offices.

Standard signage throughout the station.

Digital passenger information systems: coach indicators, outdoor/indoor video boards, 8 AGDB boards, 6 single-line displays.

Centralized announcement system for all platforms.

Status & Execution

Yard, platform, signalling, FOB) are in progress.

Letters of Acceptance (LOAs) have been issued for FOBs.

Estimates are under preparation for electrical, telecom, and passenger amenity projects.
