Pune: La Melosa Wakad Residents Send Relief to Flood-Affected Maharashtra Villages
Wakad, 6th October 2025: As heavy rains continue to wreak havoc across Maharashtra, residents of La Melosa Society in Wakad have come together to extend a helping hand to flood-affected families.
Driven by a spirit of compassion, society member Nilesh Nighot, along with his friends and family, led a relief initiative to collect and distribute essential supplies to the worst-hit areas.
On October 1 and 2, donation boxes were placed at the society’s clubhouse, where residents contributed wholeheartedly. The overwhelming response showcased the community’s strong sense of solidarity and social responsibility.
The items collected included rice, wheat flour, various dals (toor, moong, chana), cooking oil, biscuits, poha, sugar, tea powder, toothpaste, soap, blankets, bedsheets, towels, and bed covers.
Several residents — including Dattatray Ghodekar, Akshay Patil, Santosh Pawar, Rahul Patil, Amit Patil, Yashodeep Patil, Mohit Titarmare, Chetan Bhadane, and Pawan Gawande — played a vital role in collecting, sorting, and packing the donated materials before dispatching them to the affected regions.
Speaking about the initiative, Nilesh Nighot said the drive was a collective effort to help those struggling in the aftermath of the floods. “It was heartwarming to see how quickly everyone responded. This is what community spirit is all about,” he said.
