Punekars Feel the Heat as Clear Skies Return; IMD Predicts Warm Days Ahead
Pune, 7th October 2025: After several days of cloudy skies and a brief spell of rainfall, Punekars are once again feeling the sun’s intensity as temperatures begin to rise across the city. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the current dry and warm conditions will persist for the next five to six days.
Explaining the shift in weather patterns, Dr. S. D. Sanap, Scientist at the IMD, Pune, said, “A few days ago, a low-pressure area had formed over the Bay of Bengal. Combined with active monsoon winds, it led to increased humidity and cloudy skies in Pune. As a result, sunlight could not penetrate and temperatures had dropped. However, the monsoon winds have now weakened, and dry winds from the north are dominating. This has reduced the moisture in the atmosphere, leading to clearer skies and rising daytime temperatures. This situation is likely to continue for the next five to six days.”
The IMD has recorded a noticeable rise in temperatures over the past few days. On Monday (October 6), the city reported a maximum temperature of 31°C and a minimum temperature of 19°C. Morning hours remained partly cloudy, but clear skies and strong sunlight prevailed later in the day.
According to the forecast, no major change in weather is expected this week. The sky will remain partly cloudy to generally cloudy, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. Light rain or drizzle may occur in isolated areas.
The IMD further noted that from Thursday (October 9), the maximum temperature is expected to rise gradually, reaching around 32°C over the next four days. “Citizens can expect warm days ahead, though the nights will remain relatively pleasant,” the IMD stated.
