Pimpri-Chinchwad, 28th October 2025: Tensions within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Pimpri-Chinchwad flared up ahead of the civic elections after two party factions allegedly engaged in a heated confrontation on Monday afternoon. Following the altercation, the Chinchwad Police registered a case later that evening and, after preliminary inquiries, added BJP Yuva Morcha State President Anup More to the list of accused on Tuesday.

According to police officials, the complaint in the case was lodged by Tejaswini Kadam, State Secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha, at Chinchwad Police Station. Based on her report, police registered offences against Anita Krishna Tipale (43), Ekveera Sharif Khan (40), Pravin Yadav (35), Ashish Raut (32), Gaurav Gole (34), Sagar Ghorpade (30), and Jayesh More (30). More’s name was subsequently included as the eighth accused following verification of the complaint details.

A senior officer, requesting anonymity, confirmed, “Anup More’s name was added to the FIR on Tuesday after the initial investigation indicated his possible involvement.”

Police have booked all accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 74 (assault or use of criminal force to outrage a woman’s modesty), Section 189 (unlawful assembly), Section 190 (offences committed in prosecution of common object), Section 351 (criminal intimidation), and Section 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).

As per the complaint, Kadam stated that she had gone to meet an acquaintance at Gawade Park in Chinchwad when a group of individuals confronted her outside the residence. In her statement, she alleged that the group questioned her presence there and claimed to be acting on instructions from Anup More. The complaint mentions that she was verbally threatened and told she would be harmed or falsely accused if she did not stay away.

Kadam further alleged that when a car arrived to pick her up, several women surrounded the vehicle and blocked her from leaving. Later, when she approached the Chinchwad Police Station to file a complaint, she claimed that two of the accused — Anita Tipale and Ekveera Khan — assaulted and abused her inside the premises. She also reported being threatened again by a mob after leaving the station.

Sources within the police said Kadam has alleged personal issues between her and More as a possible motive behind the harassment. According to her, the confrontation stemmed from a strained relationship and alleged attempts to intimidate her following differences between the two.

Initially, Anup More’s name was not mentioned in the FIR. When questioned about the omission, police officials reportedly attributed it to an “oversight,” which was later rectified.

Responding to the allegations, Anup More denied any wrongdoing. “The accusations against me are completely false and politically motivated. I have never threatened anyone,” he told reporters, calling the case a conspiracy aimed at tarnishing his image and damaging his political career.

Police said further investigation is underway to verify the sequence of events and determine the exact nature of involvement of each accused.
