New Delhi, 11th November 2025: The white Hyundai i20 car that exploded near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on Monday evening was reportedly driven by Dr. Mohammad Umar Nabi, a resident of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir. CCTV footage of the car leaving a nearby parking area before the blast has surfaced, showing a man wearing a black mask inside the vehicle.

According to police sources, the masked man in the footage is believed to be Dr. Umar Nabi, a doctor by profession. He was seen driving the car moments before the explosion. Security agencies suspect that Umar had links to the Faridabad terror module connected to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

Hours before the Delhi blast, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had arrested eight people, including three doctors, allegedly associated with the Faridabad module. Authorities recovered 2,900 kg of explosives and an AK-47 rifle from them.

Sources said that the police were searching for four doctors in total, including Dr. Umar, who was reportedly under surveillance. Investigators believe that after the arrest of his three associates, Dr. Umar may have carried out a suicide attack in Delhi.

According to the Delhi Police Special Cell, the Hyundai i20 was parked in a nearby parking lot for nearly three hours before the explosion. CCTV footage shows Dr. Umar sitting in the car the entire time without stepping out, possibly waiting for instructions or someone’s arrival. At around 6:52 pm, the car moved slowly towards the traffic signal near the Red Fort Metro Station, where it exploded.

Police teams are now scanning CCTV footage from the Red Fort area and adjoining roads to trace the car’s movements and confirm the driver’s identity. Footage from multiple parking areas is also being reviewed.

Investigators in Pulwama have detained Dr. Umar’s mother and brother for questioning. A DNA sample from his mother has been collected to match with remains recovered from the Delhi blast site, to confirm if Umar was among the nine people killed in the explosion.

Meanwhile, the three doctors arrested earlier have been identified as Dr. Adil Ahmed, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, and Dr. Shaheen Shahid. Police said Dr. Adil, a resident of Anantnag, was arrested from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on November 7. He had earlier worked at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag before shifting to Saharanpur in 2024.

Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, a native of Koil in Pulwama, was arrested from Faridabad, Haryana. He was reportedly teaching at Al Falah University. During the raid, police seized 360 kg of explosives and an assault rifle from his accommodation. His girlfriend, Dr. Shaheen Shahid, was arrested from Lucknow, and an AK-47 rifle with live cartridges was found in her car, which Muzammil often used.

Security agencies are investigating the links between the Delhi blast and the recently busted terrorist module operating across Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Police sources said the investigation is being jointly handled by the Delhi Police Special Cell, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and central intelligence agencies.
