Pune, 26th November 2025: The search operation for the leopard spotted near Pune Airport and Aundh continues for a second day, as no fresh evidence of the animal’s movement has been detected.

According to Mahadev Mohite, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Pune Forest Division, the department is maintaining its strategy with a network of camera traps and trap cages deployed in key locations.

Mohite informed that eight camera traps and three trap cages have been installed in and around the airport area. The leopard was last sighted on Tuesday, but no further signs have appeared on surveillance devices since then. The Forest Department team remains stationed on the ground, closely monitoring any possible movement to ensure public safety.

Meanwhile, the operation in Aundh, where a leopard was reported around 4 a.m. on Sunday, has also not yielded any confirmed sightings or camera evidence so far. The Pune Forest Department, along with the RESQ Wildlife Rescue team, continues extensive tracking efforts—scanning residential zones, open plots, and potential hideouts.

Authorities have appealed to citizens to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary movement in isolated areas after dark. Residents have been asked to report any suspicious wildlife sighting immediately to the Forest Department helpline 1926.

Search efforts will continue through the night with enhanced vigilance, officials added.
