Pune Police Recruitment 2024–25: Over 2.19 Lakh Applications for 2,000 Posts
Pune, 10th December 2025: The Pune City Police has received an overwhelming 2,19,927 applications for around 2,000 vacancies in its 2024–25 recruitment drive, making it one of the largest police recruitment processes conducted in the city to date. The vacancies include posts for police constable, driver, bandsman and jail constable.
This year’s recruitment includes 1,733 vacancies for police constables, 105 for drivers, 33 for bandsmen, and 130 positions in the jail department. While the online application deadline was initially fixed for November 30, it was later extended to December 7, leading to a surge in applications.
Police officials said the recruitment process is being conducted simultaneously in Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and other parts of the state. Candidates who applied more than once for the police constable post must appear at only one location and are required to select their preferred city accordingly.
Following the verification of applications, eligible candidates will be notified via email. A final list of candidates will then be published. The Pune Police will independently conduct the recruitment for the post of prison constable. After the physical test, a written examination will be held.
With the upcoming local body elections, many applicants are now keenly awaiting the exact schedule for the next stage of recruitment.
Applications Received (Pune City Police Recruitment 2024–25):
• Police Constable – 1,733 posts – 86,240 applications
• Driver – 105 posts – 42,896 applications
• Prison Constable – 130 posts – 90,791 applications
The selection process includes a written test, physical measurements (height and chest), running tests, document verification, and a skill test for driver posts.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration) Sanjay Patil said the entire recruitment will be carried out in a transparent manner. “CCTV and video cameras will be installed on the grounds and at every stage of the process. To prevent fraud, candidates are advised not to fall prey to false promises or deception. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the Police Commissioner’s Office or the Anti-Corruption Bureau,” he said.
