Pune, 14th September 2026: The Pune Traffic Police have fixed a specific time window for loading and unloading goods at shops in the central parts of the city during Ganeshotsav 2026, considering the heavy crowds and increased traffic movement expected during the festival.

As per the order issued by DCP (Traffic) Sandeep Bhajibhakare, light goods vehicles will be allowed to load and unload goods at shops between 2 am and 11 am from September 14 to 24. Traders and shopkeepers in the affected areas will therefore have to schedule the transportation of goods within this time window.

The restriction has been introduced as large crowds of devotees and visitors are expected in central Pune during Ganeshotsav. The movement of a large number of vehicles on already busy roads could lead to traffic congestion and pose safety risks to pedestrians.

DCP Bhajibhakare said that the measure has been taken to ensure pedestrian safety and maintain smooth traffic movement during the festival.
Areas covered by the order
The designated loading and unloading window will apply to light goods vehicles supplying shops in Bohri Aali, Ganesh Peth, Rvwar Peth, Shukrawar Peth, Mandai, Laxmi Road, Bajirao Road and other parts of central Pune.

Accordingly, traders in these areas will have to complete loading and unloading activities between 2 am and 11 am during the specified period.

The move is aimed at reducing vehicle movement during peak hours when the central parts of Pune are expected to witness significant pedestrian and vehicular traffic during Ganeshotsav 2026.
