Mohammadwadi, 12th December 2025: An 11-year-old boy who had stepped out to fly a kite was found dead on the railway tracks near Mohammadwadi on Wednesday evening, police said.

The child has been identified as Prakash Bhool, a resident of Sasanenagar in Hadapsar.

Senior Inspector Mansingh Patil of the Kalepadal police station said the incident came to light late on Wednesday, and an accidental death report was filed on Thursday.

“Initial findings indicate that Prakash was struck by a passing train close to the Mohammadwadi rail tunnel. The impact was fatal,” he said.

According to police, Prakash, a Class IV student at a Zilla Parishad school, had left home on Wednesday afternoon after telling his parents he was going out to fly a kite.

“His parents are originally from Nepal and work as security guards at a housing society in the area. It appears he may have wandered onto the tracks while flying the kite, leading to the tragic accident,” Patil added.
When the boy did not return home for several hours, his parents began searching the locality, moving through different parts of Hadapsar and Sasanenagar.

“A railway trackman eventually noticed a child lying unresponsive between the tracks. The railway staff alerted us, and we were able to identify the boy and contact his family,” Patil said.
