Pune Crime Branch Recovers 21 Lost and Stolen Mobile Phones Worth Rs 3.10 Lakh

Pune, 23rd December 2025: In a major relief to citizens, Crime Branch Unit 2 of the Pune City Police has recovered 21 lost and stolen mobile phones, collectively valued at ₹3.10 lakh.

The recovery comes amid a rise in complaints related to missing and stolen mobile phones across Pune. Acting on instructions from senior officers, officials of Crime Branch Unit 2 conducted a special drive in December 2025 to trace such devices.

During routine patrolling and investigation, police personnel Saddam Tamboli and Sadhana Tamhane carried out detailed technical analysis to track mobile phones reported lost or stolen from police stations within Unit 2’s jurisdiction. The devices were traced not only from different parts of Pune city but also from several other locations.

As a result of the operation, 21 mobile phones of various brands and values were recovered and seized. The police have contacted the respective owners, and the recovered devices are in the process of being returned to them.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumbhar. It was led by Senior Police Inspector Santosh Sonawane and Assistant Police Inspector Amol Rasale, along with a team comprising Saddam Tamboli, Sadhana Tamhane, Sanjay Jadhav, Shankar Kumbhar, Ujjwal Mokashi, Shankar Nevase, Vijay Kumar Pawar, Nagnath Rakh, Santosh Takle, Vinod Chavan, Sanjay Abanave, Omkar Kumbhar, Ganesh Thorat, Vishal Dalvi, Azeem Sheikh, Sarjerao Sargar, Yogesh Mandhare, Sandeep Shirke, and Vinayak Vagare.

Police officials have appealed to citizens to promptly report cases of lost or stolen mobile phones, stating that timely complaints and technical tracking significantly improve recovery efforts.
