Pune Inner Ring Road: Alignment Finalised For Five Villages, Defence-Railways Meeting On September 15
Pune, 11th September 2026: The land acquisition and technical processes for Pune’s proposed High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR) and Inner Ring Road projects have gained momentum, with the alignment of the Inner Ring Road finalised for five villages and proposals for government land required for the HCMTR submitted to the District Collector’s office.
The decisions were taken during a review meeting held at the District Collector’s office in Pune on Friday. The meeting was attended by Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Additional Municipal Commissioners Pavneet Kaur and Omprakash Divte, Deputy Commissioner (Land Acquisition) Nikhil More, City Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar, Chief Engineer Dinkar Gojare, and senior officials from the land acquisition and town planning departments.
According to officials, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s land acquisition department has submitted complete proposals to the District Collector’s office for the government department lands required for the 24-metre HCMTR project, following directions issued at an earlier review meeting.
The alignment of the proposed 65-metre Inner Ring Road was also finalised during Friday’s meeting after technical issues concerning its route through five villages were discussed.
Following changes made to the alignment, Municipal Commissioner Ram directed the town planning and city engineering departments to immediately initiate the statutory process for modifications to Development Plan (DP) reservations under Section 37 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966 (MRTP Act).
The administration has also planned a meeting with the Defence and Railways departments on Tuesday, September 15, to expedite the process of acquiring or obtaining possession of central government land falling along the proposed routes of the two projects. District Collector Jitendra Dudi directed officials to submit the necessary proposals for the meeting.
The HCMTR and Inner Ring Road projects are intended to improve connectivity and address traffic congestion in Pune and its surrounding areas. Officials said regular coordination between the Pune Municipal Corporation and the District Collector’s office is being used to expedite both private and government land acquisition processes.
The administration said all concerned departments are working to complete the required procedures and make the projects available to citizens at the earliest.
