New Delh, 31 December 2025: Indian Railways has completed the final high-speed trial of the indigenously designed Vande Bharat Sleeper Train under the supervision of the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS). The trial was conducted on the Kota–Nagda section, where the 16-coach sleeper rake achieved a maximum speed of 180 kmph, officials said.

According to railway authorities, the CRS trial involved detailed technical assessments covering ride stability, oscillation, vibration behaviour, braking performance, emergency braking systems and onboard safety systems. The train’s performance across all tested parameters at high speed was found to be satisfactory, following which the trial was declared successful.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a video of the trial on social media, showing the train running at 180 kmph on the Kota–Nagda stretch. The footage also included a water-glass stability demonstration, in which glasses filled with water remained steady during high-speed operation.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper rake tested during the trial is designed for long-distance travel. It is equipped with sleeper berths, advanced suspension systems, automatic doors, modern toilet units, fire detection and safety monitoring systems, CCTV-based surveillance and digital passenger information systems, officials said.

With the completion of the CRS high-speed trial, the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has moved closer to operational readiness. Further steps related to certification and deployment are expected to follow as per standard railway procedures.
