Pune: BJP Holds Grand Padyatra in Ward 25 as PMC Election Campaign Gains Momentum
Shaniwar Peth, 5th January 2026: As campaigning for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections intensifies, a grand padyatra was organised on Sunday in Ward No. 25 in support of BJP candidates. The rally, held in the presence of MLA Hemant Rasane, witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of residents, who extended their support to Raghavendra Bappu Mankar and other BJP candidates.
The padyatra was organised to campaign for BJP’s official candidates from Ward 25 — Raghavendra Bappu Mankar, Swarada Gaurav Bapat, Kunal Shailesh Tilak and Swapnali Nitin Pandit. It began at 5 pm from Pantacha Ghot and passed through several key localities in the ward.
Slogans such as “Punekars’ resolve in Ward 25, BJP candidates will win” and “Pride of Pune, honour of BJP; let Ward 25’s dignity rise” echoed throughout the area as party workers marched with high energy. The rally moved through Kumthekar Road, Chitrashala Chowk and Fadtare Chowk, where supporters gathered in large numbers.
Residents in areas including Perugate, Pavan Maruti and Limayewadi welcomed the candidates by showering flower petals from balconies and performing traditional aarti. The padyatra continued through Navjawan Chowk, Nagnathpar, Gayali and Nimbalkar Talim areas, where candidates interacted directly with voters and expressed confidence of victory.
The procession later passed via Khajina Vihir, Swami Samarth Temple and Madiwale Colony, culminating at the Bhikardas Maruti Temple on Bajirao Road, where prayers were offered. The padyatra concluded at Maharana Pratap Garden.
Addressing supporters, the BJP candidates assured residents of prompt public service and reiterated their commitment to the overall development of Ward 25. Several Ganesh mandals along the route also welcomed the candidates during the rally.
Former corporators Dilip Kalokhe, Rajesh Yenpure and Gayatri Khadke, along with party leaders including Uday Lele, Mandal president Amit Kank, city general secretary Manoj Khatri, mandal general secretary Nilesh Kadam, Kiran Jagdale, Santosh Fadtare and other city and mandal office-bearers were present.
Women’s wing leaders Mohana Gadre, Rupali Kadam, Surekha Pashankar and Ujjwala Pavatekar, along with Yuva Morcha leader Shreyas Lele, booth heads and a large number of BJP workers also participated.
