Wakad News: BJP Holds Campaign Yatra, Focus on Development and Metro Expansion
Wakad, 8th January 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensified its campaign in Ward No. 25 of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections, with a strong show of support emerging from Wakad village. After campaign launches in Punawale and Tathawade, the BJP formally began its outreach in Wakad gaothan, where local residents expressed confidence that the area would extend full support to the party in the upcoming civic polls.
BJP’s official candidates from Ward No. 25—Rahul Tanaji Kalate, Shruti Ram Wakadkar, Reshma Chetan Bhujbal and Kunal Wavhalkar—were present during the campaign launch. Religious leaders Jitendranath Maharaj and Bade Baba Machhindranath also attended the event and offered their blessings for the candidates’ victory.
A campaign yatra was organised through key localities in Wakad gaothan, covering Matoba Temple, Datta Mandir Road, Utkarsh Chowk, Mauli Chowk, Wakad Police Station, Kala Khadak Road and concluding at the late Tanajibhau Tukaram Kalate Garden. The yatra received an enthusiastic response, with residents joining in large numbers and interacting with the candidates along the route.
Addressing residents, BJP candidate Rahul Kalate said that development is built on trust and credited Wakad’s transformation to sustained planning and civic initiatives. He described Wakad as a model of urban development and said further growth would be accelerated under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Kalate thanked citizens for the trust shown over the previous five-year term and appealed to voters to elect all BJP candidates in the ward.
Kalate also underlined the need to strengthen traffic management in Wakad, noting that a large number of IT professionals reside in the area and face daily commuting challenges. He said the expansion of the metro network would improve public transport, reduce pollution and make travel more convenient for residents.
