Pune, 8th January 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stepped up its election campaign in Bibvewadi’s Ward No. 20 on Thursday following the release of the party’s manifesto outlining a roadmap for a “Developed Pune.”

The publication of the document on January 8 energised party workers and set the tone for an intensive door-to-door outreach programme in the Bibvewadi–Shankar Maharaj Math area.

A large padayatra and campaign rally was taken out on behalf of BJP’s official candidates Rajendra Yashwant Shilimkar, Tanvi Prashant Divekar, Mansi Manoj Deshpande and Mahendra Manikchand (Muttha) Sundecha. The march was led by local leader Dipak alias Baba Sheth Misal and witnessed the participation of a significant number of party office-bearers and workers.

During the padayatra, BJP candidates and workers interacted directly with residents across lanes and neighbourhoods, including the Shankar Maharaj Math and Gangadham areas. The campaign focused on taking the party’s development agenda and manifesto to every household. Residents responded positively, welcoming the candidates, engaging in conversations, and expressing trust in their leadership, party leaders said.

The campaign highlighted the BJP’s emphasis on direct public interaction, with leaders stating that such outreach helps strengthen trust and convey the party’s vision for infrastructure development, civic amenities and overall urban growth in Pune. Party workers described the response from citizens as encouraging, noting that people openly shared local issues and expectations related to development.

Several BJP leaders and workers, including Dilip Misal, Pinaki Misal, Sada Chavan, Rahul Agrawal, Vijay Alhat, Vinod Dugad, Sairaj Dugad, Anil Bhansali, Rohan Deshpande, Dharmesh Nahar and Sandip Bhandari, were present in large numbers during the campaign.
