PMC Elections 2026: Pune Records Around 55% Voter Turnout, Counting on January 16
Pune, 15th January 2026: Around 55 per cent polling was recorded in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) general elections 2026 held on Thursday, January 15. Voting took place at 4,011 polling stations across the city and was conducted in a largely peaceful atmosphere, barring minor exceptions.
As per the orders of the Maharashtra State Election Commission, polling for the PMC general elections for the year 2025–26 concluded smoothly across all wards. Election officials said there were no major untoward incidents reported during the voting process.
The counting of votes will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, starting at 10 am at 15 designated counting centres across Pune city. All preparations for the counting process have been completed by the respective Returning Officers, the civic election office said.
The counting centres include Rajaram Bhiku Pathare Stadium at Kharadi for Yerwada–Kalas–Dhanori, the Ward Office building at Nagar Road–Vadgaonsheri, Agriculture College Ground at Shivajinagar for Shivajinagar–Ghole Road, and Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex at Balewadi for Aundh–Baner.
Counting will also take place at MIT World Peace University, Kothrud for Kothrud–Bavdhan, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Memorial at Koregaon Park for Dhole Patil Road, and Sadhana Vidyalaya, Hadapsar for Hadapsar–Mundhwa.
Other counting venues include Jijau Mangal Karyalaya at Wanwadi for Wanwadi–Ramtekdi, Baburao Sanas Sports Ground near Sarasbaug for Bibwewadi, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Urdu School at Bhavani Peth, DES New English School for Kasba–Vishrambaugwada, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay English Medium School at Paud Phata for Warje–Karvenagar, Sharadchandra Pawar Academy at Vadgaon Budruk for Sinhagad Road, Dhanakawadi–Sahakarnagar Ward Office premises for Dhanakawadi–Sahakarnagar, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj E-learning School for Kondhwa–Yewalewadi.
The civic administration has clarified that entry to all counting centres and the central media cell at Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch, Swargate, will be allowed only to candidates, authorised representatives, journalists and cameramen carrying valid identity cards.
The Pune Municipal Corporation Election Office has appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate during the counting process to ensure smooth and transparent results declaration.
